Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist
Eucharist Ministers are lay people who volunteer and are trained by the Church to assist the priest in distributing Holy Communion at mass. They also help in bringing the Eucharist to the sick at hospitals, nursing homes and those who are unable to attend mass.
There are around 50 or more ministers serving at all masses in the parish working to a strict rota weekly. They also minister to the sick of our parish by taking the Eucharist to those parishioners unable to attend mass and bring them not only Eucharist but also news of the parish community and it’s activities.
Ministers meet with the Parish Priest several times a year to reflect and discuss matters.
Ministers have to dress appropriately and at all times be aware of the solemnity of their responsibilities and respect for distribution of Holy Eucharist in all forms.
